Connect with Jayne’s 'Quiz Master' (ages 10-14)

In response to COVID-19 the ‘Live Up’ COVID COMMUNITY was set up to support our communities with practical wellbeing resources that can be used for these extraordinary circumstances of social distancing, community lockdown and quarantine. This article is from Jayne Ngariki and about building Connections and Engagement while having fun learning.

Get ‘Quizzicle’

How do we keep everyone engaged and connected during this time? Try using a quiz as a way to involve the children in learning that is delivered in a fun way. Since we tried this my daughter has since made up a quiz for us, without being asked to! What she didn’t realise was that the activity was loaded with literacy skills, like having to write out the questions and know the answers. Being able to confidently read out the questions and mark them off as they were answered or not! Here is how we did it.

Instructions

  • Make up a list of 10 of questions that require one answer and vary these up from general knowledge to the weird/whacky.

  • Each member of the family will have 1 minute 20 seconds to answer all 10.

  • As each question is read out the person can choose to either answer or pass.

  • When all 10 questions are read the quiz master can go back and read the ones they missed if time allows.

  • WINNER – gets a prize!
